Discussion week 34 Friday the 18th and Sunday the 20th of December

Discussion week 34

 - Friday the 18th of December

 - Why are you on a diet?

Why do Asian people, THIN Asian people, often feel like they need to lose weight?

In my short time in Japan so far, most of the Japanese women I have talked to are THIN, and even so, they claim that they need to lose weight.

Of course, in comparison to the western world, almost all Asian people seem small and thin to us, however, in Western countries people of similar weight to most Asian people, are considered very thin and even someone who is 93kg is considered normal in Western countries. Why do so many thin Japanese people want to lose even more weight?

- Sunday the 20th of December

 - It's Christmas? What are you going to buy for me?

Is Christmas about being festive, friendly and together with family and friends?

I'm more concerned with what you are going to buy for me, and what do you mean you're not buying me a new car? What's this ¥1000 gift?

The real questions are: Is Christmas all about the presents?

Does Christmas help the economy? And how much of the holiday is focused on giving and receiving, rather than being with family and friends and having a good time?

Is Christmas too commercialized?
