〜 Mark's English Storytelling 〜

#1

Hello everyone!

I am going to write English stories for you once per week with some interesting Vocabulary and Grammar, it's like a small lesson that you can try at home!

- The Restaurant.

"How may I help you?" said the waiter as my friends and I walked into my favourite restaurant last night. "A table for 3 please" I replied. "Right this way please" he said as he pointed us to a table near the window, we sat down at the table and started to browse the menu, I chose the steak with mushrooms and a beer, and my friends both ordered the curry and a cola each.

The waiter walked over to our table and asked "can I take your order?", we ordered "I would like the steak with mushrooms. and a beer, and my friends would both like to get the curry and a cola each". The waiter wrote our order on his clipboard, and confirmed "One steak, two curries, a beer and 2 colas? Thank you."

While we were waiting for our food to be prepared, I noticed that we only had two sets of cutlery, so I called the waiter over, "excuse me!", "how can I help you?" he asked.

"We only have two sets of cutlery", He apologised and promptly brought us another set of cutlery. Shortly after that, he came back with two plates in his hands, "I have two curries here" he said, and my friends both replied in unison, "Ah! The curry is for me, thank you", and after a short wait, he brought the drinks and my steak with mushrooms too.

We enjoyed our meals while we talked about all kinds of interesting things. After the meal, we decided to pay the bill, so once again I called over the waiter "Excuse me!", he came to our table and he asked us if we were satisfied with our meal, and of course we replied that it was delicious. "Can we get the bill?" I asked, and he brought us the bill and a small plate to place our money into. It was my treat, so we didn't split the bill.

After paying, we left the table and once again told the waiter "The meal was great! Thanks!", as we headed for the door, the waiter yelled "Please come again!, we said "Thanks" again as we headed out the door back into the cold city.
